HOW TO CREATE A QUEST

1. Chose a good location for your quest
You need a site that has a variety of objects or features that you can use as clues.
You also need a site that is convient so you can check on the box and make sure none of the clues change.
2. Gain permission from the land owner to hide the box and set up the quest
Lincoln Parks & Rec, the NRD lands and Nebraska Game and Park have all developed geo-caching policies. Although a quest is not a geocache since it does not require a GPS it should fall under the same policy. Lincoln Park and Rec has asked that we provide them with a copy of our quest instructions and the location of the box to keep on file.
3. Create a sketch of the park noting possible clues
Creating a quest is fun but it takes a little time and work. The first step is to become very familiar with the site and to find a place to hide the box. Now figure out what you want your clue to say. If you are going to use a clue box style of quest.
4. Write your clues.
They do not have to rhyme but it adds to the fun. Make sure your clues are clear and relatively permanent. For instance you do not want to use blooming tulips when in a few weeks they will be gone.
5. Create your box
Now you need a box it needs to be a airtight container it should have the name of the quest on it and contain contact information, a log book - so people can write comments, a pen, and a stamp.
6. Have a friend try your quest
Have some different people try your quest this will help you discover if any clues need to be clarified.
7. Find a way to let others know about your quest
If you would like to have your quest placed on our website contact us at hanfamily@earthlink.net Be sure to put quest in the subject line. We would love to try out your quest. If it meets our requirements and we have space we will be happy to place it on our website.
